PII (or personally identifiable information) refers to any data that can be used to identify an individual. Quickly and accurately discover PII data points within your inventory to meet growing PII compliance regulatory demands.

To use the PII discovery tool, first get started with data sources by adding to your list.

To enable PII discovery, ensure that one or more of your data sources is PII supported and integrations are enabled. You can find PII supported sources by filtering the data sources page view (see image below).

Data sources that support PII discovery: 

  1. HubSpot
  2. Intercom
  3. Kustomer
  4. Shopify
    • To enable these integrations, click on the attached links

After updating your data inventory, head to your data mapping page and click "PII".

To discover PII data points, click "Collect PII"

Note: It may take a while for all PII data points to load. When all PII data points are updated, the data source, object, data point and number of data point records will appear in your PII table.  

The PII discovery tool scans for the following data points: 

  • Credit card number
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Iban code
  • IP address
  • Location
  • Passport
  • Password
  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Street address
  • Swift code
  • US passport
  • US state
  • US drivers license number
  • US social security number

Note: PII discovery updates are limited to once every 48 hours.
